Not enough stopping power? How much deader than dead can you be? Just wondering...
Sean Connery is the 'only' cinematic James Bond, in my esteem. My two faves, 'Goldfinger' and 'From Russia With Love' -- look out for Miss Lotte Lenya!
I read all the Bond novels when I was studying for finals in university as a way of detaching. It actually worked.
Cheers,
Ian
I loved reading the James Bond series when I was young seemed so daring in those days. You are right *the* cinematic Bond is Sean Connery. Though I must say that the new Bond is the best I've seen since Sean Connery. He has the same dangerous, ruthless killer feeling to him. I wonder what he'll be like in the next film.
As for stopping power lil sister, more stopping power does not make you more dead, but it does make you more dead much faster. A .45 caliber will put a hole in you that a truck can drive through. In the movies the hero just keeps on going despite being hit by large caliber slugs, a 22 caliber maybe, but certainly not a .45 caliber.
Meh stopping power, schmopping power. As long as you end up dead...
But then I guess bigger holes make for more spectacular movies?
PS: Not that I don't like violence in movies and shit. If you're gonna have violence it might as well be spectacular..
I have just accross your blog (via Ian Lidster) and really liked it. One of my favourite books and movies is 'The Man Who Never Was' - so it interesting to see the Bond touch. Keep enjoying Bond! All the very best. Michelle
